Diana Sketriene ANZOS Annual Scientific Meeting 2021

Diana Sketriene

I am a last year PhD international student. I have BSc in Biology, Technology and Science, and MSc in Cellular signalling and Neurosciences, the University of Paris-Sud (Paris XI), ENS Cachan. My main interest is compulsive behaviour and addiction. During my masters, I worked on substance abuse and alcohol effects on epigenetics. Currently, I am working on the project “Compulsive overeating: Could it lead to addiction?” in the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Neural Plasticity & Motivated Behaviour Laboratory. I am interested in how chronic overeating in some individuals could become compulsive and how this behaviour persists despite negative consequences for health and social relationships. I believe that in people prone to obesity some addiction-like impairments in the brain could occur in response to highly palatable food that potentially underlies their ability to limit food intake.
