Simon T Bond
Dr Simon Bond is a postdoctoral researcher at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Before joining the Baker Institute, Simon completed his PhD in metabolism at the Metabolic Research Unit, Deakin University, under the supervision of Assoc. Professor Sean McGee.
Since completing his PhD, Simon moved to Melbourne to take up a postdoctoral position at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in 2017 under the mentorship of Dr Brian Drew. Working in the Molecular Metabolism and Ageing Laboratory, Simon has been investigating the role of mitochondrial dynamics in adipose tissue, as well as mechanisms to promote healthy adipose expansion. His research interests include tissue specific targeted drug delivery and metabolism, specifically focusing on molecular mechanisms within metabolic tissues that are responsible for the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
